Vallenian celebrates year-ender party with 70s hits

There's a quote saying “you only live once” and Vallenians cherish it by ending the year with positivity standing with the mantra “Your pOsitivity Lives On” (YOLO).

On December 11, 2024, Valley High Academy (VHA) quadrangle were back to different eras as Vallenians celebrated the YOLO 2024 with the theme – Rhythm of the Year: A Journey of Song and Dance.

Your pOsitivity Lives On (YOLO) is an event that brings all VHA students together to enjoy and celebrate the end of the year. The celebration aims to remember the moment and winning that Vallenians achieved this year.

The main event of this school year’s YOLO is the sing and dance performance prepared by preschool, elementary, and JHS students.

Grade 4-Marigold and 7-Franklin aced the last competition of the year hailed as champions.

The coach and adviser of 4-Marigold is Mr. Juan Carlos Melegrito while Ms. Genesie Keith C. Sta. Ana is for 7-Franklin.

“Halos lahat nagtulong tulong kasi yung paggamit ng props [ay] first time. Imagine, grade seven tapos nagba-backdrop na kami, yun kasi yung kadalasang nakikita sa senior high school. Kinabahan kami kasi lahat ang gagaling, lahat ang bongga. Sabi ko nga sa kanila okay lang kahit hindi tayo mag-champion ang mahalaga nakapag-perform,” Sta. Ana said.

This is the 3rd title of 7-Franklin as they have won Champion in three consecutive events this school year: Buwan ng Wika, United Nations, and YOLO.

For the 2nd place, Grade 5-Azalea (intermediate level) and Grade 7-Curie (JHS level) got the spot.

“Hindi namin inakala kasi naging mahirap, nakakakaba at pressure lalong lalo na yung mga bata. Hirap sila kasi gusto nilang ma-maintain yung place namin. We did it,” Angel Cater said. She is the class adviser of 7-Curie.

“Yung naging preparation po namin dito is medyo naging mahirap para sa amin. Yung first two weeks ng practice namin medyo naging hassle talaga kasi yung mga bata nanibago sa baton which is ngayon pa lang nila napractice but in the end I’m so happy po sa kanilang naging performance,” Frician Mae Bonete narrated, class adviser of 5-Azalea.

“They developed their new skills. I’m so happy sa Azalea and naging happy din sila sa naging performance nila,” Bonete added.

Grade 6-Hyacinth and 10-Newton received the 3rd place recognition. Their coaches are: Ms. Je Ann Guiterrez for 6-Hyacinth and Ms. Diana Tamayo for 10-Newton.

“Today we celebrate the event honoring the memories we've shared. As we gather here, let's reflect on the moment we've had together,” the school directress, Regina Quimno remarked.
